We want to be a church that breaks the cultural standards today. What we mean is that the typical church today is a place where strangers come to sing, hear a Pastor preach and then leave to maybe never see each other again. To be fair, not every church follows this mold, but in general the church today is radically different from the New Testament church.

When you read through the book of Acts, you read about men and women who genuinely loved Christ and because of this, loved each other. Acts 2:42-47 paints this picture of a group of people who sold what they had and gave to every person with a need. If you read further, you’ll see that these men and women lived, and in some cases, died together all in the name of Christ. They were so convinced that Christ was risen, that they devoted their lives to see his name glorified and his Gospel spread.

This is what we want for our church. We want to be a community of servants who love Christ without shame and in turn love each other with a godly love. Our desire is to be a family that lives out this life together. We want to engage the culture around us with the Gospel that saved us, showing them the love Christ showed to us. We don’t want to be a perfect church! God knows there are too many churches claiming to have reached holiness. But by God’s grace, through the power of His Spirit we do hope to be a church that humbly pursues a life of righteousness together.
